Happy Predident's Day

Each week as part of my student's homework, I give them a picture with the direction to write a story to go with the picture. This week I got 2 very different responses. I thought I would share them with you. They both made me laugh, but for very different reasons. A boy wrote: "Once upon a time, I had a dream that I was hanging out with President Washington and President Lincoln. They told me all the good things they did for us. George Washington said that he led our army to beat the British and he became our first president. Then Abraham Lincoln said that he was the 16th president. He made slavery stop and freed the African-Americans. After that, we went to McDonald's for free cheese burgers! Then, they said bye-bye and I woke up. I told my mommy and daddy what I dreamed about, and they just laughed.

A girl wrote: "I always use a map. Some maps are very important ? Maps tell us places. Maps can be colorful. Maps help you. One day you can by a map. Teachers have a lot of maps. All maps are different.

Anyway, I just thought that they were cute. Keep in mind, they are only second graders.

That first note was written by one very creative imaginative boy!
By the way, I just love your background...it is so so cute! Love the green.
