Meet Nellie

The other day Tom said,"Karen, would you like to come and help me bury this garbage in the backyard?" "Okay", I said. Then he added,"And bring Nellie with you." Nellie, who is Nellie? Mom is not here I said to myself. Then I found out that he meant the compost pot that is pictured below. He said he named it Nellie because my mother, Nellie, gave it to us for Christmas. Isn't he clever? He has also named all of the roosters we have in our kitchen.

So, anyway, meet Nellie.I have some other Nellie's in my life that I would like to share with you. They are two very special women.
This one is a picture of my mother Nellie. I think this was her senior picture from 1955.
This is a picture of my great grandmother Nellie. I think she is about the same age as my mother is in this picture. Wasn't she something? My grandmother told me that this was a picture taken when she went to the ceremony when Utah became a state.
I am truly grateful for all of these Nellies in my life.

Great pictures. I see lots of Ashley in your Mom...especially that picture. Your grandmother looked very dramatic. I would love to learn more about her!

And I see Brooke in your grandma's picture, although they don't have the same eyes. I think Brooke has Robin's eyes.
