We're Turning Over....A New Leaf, That Is

Meaning: Start to do something again in a better way, forgetting past errors.

For longer than we care to remember or admit, we have not made our many on a consistent bases for a long time. It has got to be in the years. Anyway, we have decided to turn over a new leaf and start making our bed every morning.(Mom would be so proud) So, we started today. Let's hope we can keep it going. Wish us luck.
This is our bed. It is so pretty. It really is ashame we don't make it more often.

I am totally fanatical about making my bed. It is the very worst thing if it is unmade while I am eating breakfast. If Hubby sits on it to put on his shoes, I freak. Even worse, if he lays down on it after it's made, I really freak. I think it all goes back to my Mother sleeping in, having naps in the middle of the day, and ALWAYS leaving her bed unmade. I am religious about making my bed and I NEVER take naps in the daytime.

You and I are on opposite sides of the spectrum here. Maybe if we each took some from the other, we would become more balanced. :)

It's funny, Karen, I didn't used to make my bed... for days it would go unmade - usually til I changed the sheets - but somewhere along the line I started making my bed & now I'm to the point where I can't stand not having it made!! I guess I went from one end of the spectrum all by myself : )

Very pretty bedding. :) Making the bed makes the whole room feel cleaner.

Making the bed instantly makes the room look 100% tider. However, I leave so early for work that my husband usually has to do it, but it always gets done. We are a couple of bed makers!

Very pretty! My husband is the last one out of ours in the morning and he used to just throw the covers over back over it haphazardly. After my careful instruction, he has started to take the time to actually make the bed a bit neater and add the pretty pillows on top so that I don't have to follow behind him. Finally! And I'm very appreciative of it too! Happy Friday, my friend! Candace

Your bed looks so inviting! It is beautiful. In our house, the last one out of the bed makes the bed...so, our bed doesn't get made until the evening when husband decides to make it so I can go to sleep. Me? I hate an unmade bed...makes the whole house feel dirty!

Thats funny...but makes me feel kind of good that I am not the only one that doesn't make my bed. It is just so much more comfy at night when its not made. Thats our theory at least. The other funny thing on my way to work today I was feeling kind of bad that I don't have my kids trained to do that when they first wake up like my mom and grandma both did with me. Oh well right....maybe in a few years we can turn over the new leaf too!!!

Ohhhhhh, so now I know where the non-bed-making-gene comes from. I have parented for 23 years and I have yet to raise a bed-making-child. So I guess the story is... if I just hold on until they all turn 50 this will all change? I must admit though, I am an enabler. I often make their beds when they go to seminary...
Keep it up!!

Good luck! I'm horrible about making the bed. When growing up my reason for my unmade bed is I'm just going to sleep in it again anyway.

I'll tell a different story. I make the bed in the morning. At about 2:30 I have to take a 1-1/2 hour nap. So I remove all the pillows, put the spread completely down, and take my nap. So, from 4:00 p.m. on, the bed is un-made! Guess I do it both ways! Fondly, Susan

I'm terrible about making our bed BUT I saw on the news bed bugs are in beds that are made because no sun hits the sheets during the day so I always tell Scott I am saving him from having a bed bug infestation!

Yikes. I should join you on that...I never make mine either. It's certainly not that pretty though either!
