Today marks what would have been my dad's 76th birthday. Unfortunately, he passed away at age 52 on August 6, 1985. He had bladder cancer caused from being expose to radio active missile fuel. So in honor of his birthday I got one of these to eat. Many years ago Dad found out about this ice cream. He was so excited that he took me right away to the store to get one. These have been my favorite ever sense.
Here is a picture of Mom and Dad on their wedding day March 24, 1958. Dad was serving in the Air Force at the time.
Here is a picture of he and I at a Stake Daddy Daughter dance -I think. It was when I was in high school in the 70's .
Here is a thing I had made in his honor several years ago. It has the flag from his casket and the bullet casings from the 21 gun salute, a ribbon bar from his uniform, and his retirement papers from the Air Force. It hangs in our hallway.

Karen, Good job on this post! I didn't realize your dad died at such a young age. What a lovely tribute you made to him in the "box" you made with the flag, etc. You are very talented. Fondly, Susan
I clicked on the picture of your dad and mom and could tell that you look like your dad. He was sick the times I saw him. I can still remember seeing him sitting at a table out in the yard at Robin and Dave's reception. It must have been so hard for you loosing your dad at such a young age.

Karen, wow what mememories you brought back with your post. I absolutely love your folks. Your dad was (is) a wonderful person. We had the chance to know him well. I thought the world of Ira. And that is one of my favorite ice creams too!! So fun to see all your pictures.
